The Palatine Gallery, the Silver Museum, the sanctuary of St. Verdiana in Castelfiorentino, the convent of Montesenario, Santa Maria in Provenzano, the Richard-Ginori della Manifattura di Doccia Museum, are just some of the places where the visitor can enjoy the splendour of Baroque art as well as masterpieces by Rubens, Francesco Furini, Matteo Rosselli, Van Dyck, Caravaggio, Anton Domenico Gabbiani, Soldani Benzi, Guercino, Reni, Foggini. This artistic period corresponds more or less to the 1600 and 1700. The great Tuscan tradion of art was in fact continued by the last Medici and, after the Medici died out, by other wise and rich families like the Rinuccini, Feroni, Venuti, Baldelli, Chigi Saracini… In 1735 for example Carlo Ginori founded the Ginori manufacture which was the first Italian porcelain factory. It is still active and contains a museum where one can admire its splendid products. The Palatine Gallery in Pitti palace houses the real Medici collection: Guercino, Titian, Rubens, Van Dyck, Botticelli and others; the salons are decorated with the frescoes and ornamental stuccoes by Pietro da Cortona. It is one of the finest museums in Italy and contains an even greater number of works than the Uffizi Gallery. The abbey of Vallombrosa or casa Martelli like the Roffia palace, the churches of Sant’Agostino in Arezzo, San Gaetano in Florence, the oratories in Siena show us the splendour of a civilized age, which developed a new idea of beauty and enjoyed philosophy and culture.
